Here at Grandma Chickens Country Jam we use the traditional process of water-bathing when making our jams, jellies, and fruit butters.

After cutting, peeling, blending, and boiling fresh fruit, sugar, and pectin we fill our mason jars. Then we screw the lid on and them place them in a large stock pot of boiling water for 10 minutes.

This helps create that suction seal on the lid, preserving our preserves for up to one year for optimal freshness!

This method is the safest form of making homemade preserves at home, just the way grandma used to make.

  • Our jams, jellies, and fruit butters are sold in 1/2 pint jars.
  • You can purchase individual jars or customize any of our offered gift sets!
  • Vegan, gluten-free, and no preservatives.
  • Each jar is topped with a fabric topper, bringing back that old country charm.
  • Our jam is good for six months from the date on the jar unopened in the pantry. Once opened please put in the fridge and consume within 6 months for best taste!

Q. How long does the jam last?

A. 6 months unopened pantry life from the date on the jar. Once opened place in fridge and consume within another 6 months for optimal freshness.

Q. Do you offer sugar free?

A. No, we do not offer sugar free, and trust me, it’s not from a lack of trying! If we ever perfect the sugar free jam you’ll be the first to know!

Q. How do I purchase your jam?

A. Click on any jam you like and you will be redirected to our online Etsy Shop to make your purchase!

Q. If there are no preservatives how does it last so long?

A. Sugar! Sugar is natures natural preservative. So sugar combined with a proper water-bathing method will ensure long lasting, delicious results.

Q. How much sugar is in each jar?

A. Every jam flavor has a different level of sugar content. Check each flavor to determine which one would be best for you.

Q. Where are you located?

A. We make our jam in Peoria Arizona in our home kitchen. Our Arizona Cottage Food Registered number is #15037 L Parker.

Q. Do you sell your jam in person?

A. We sure do! We go to several different local farmer’s markets on a weekly basis as well as our online Etsy Shop! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see what shows, markets, and events we participate in.

Q. How spicy are your pepper jams?

A. That always depends on you! If you love spicy things, then our Habanero jam will hit just right! If you are sensitive to spicy flavors, then we would recommend any of our jalapeño jams. They have a great jalapeño flavor with a little bit of heat.

Q. What is the different between jams, jellies, preserves, and fruit butters?

A. Preserves is actually a general term for anything you “can.” For example pickles or pickled onions can be considered preserves.

Jams will have fruit pieces in it for a chunkier texture.

Jellies are smooth made from fruit juices.

Fruit butter is fruit that gets cooked down over several hours to produce a soft, creamy, smooth texture.

Q. Do you offer free shipping?

A. We don’t offer free shipping at this time, but if you love jam we recommend purchasing more than one jar as the shipping price get discounted on Etsy with multiple purchases.

Q. Do you offer refunds?

A. Yes! If you received product damaged, find anything wrong, or simply did not enjoy the flavor please send up a message on our Etsy Shop for a refund.

Q. Do you offer custom orders?

A. We don’t offer custom flavor requests. But we do offer different gift sets where you can choose which flavors you would like! Shoot us a message on Etsy if you do have any requests you don’t see available to you and we will be happy to let you know what we can do for you!
