100 Linen Closet Organization Ideas

100 Linen Closet Organization Ideas

Are you in need of some brilliant & simple linen closet organization ideas? From small to large closets, we’ve found some of the most gorgeous & practical linen closet organization solutions.

How many times have you googled, how do I organize my linen closet? For some reason, linen closets can be one of the more difficult things to organize in your home.

Why is that? You are trying to organize chaos! How do we tame chaos?

By following these super easy 5 steps to linen closet organization!

01 | DECIDE WHAT GOES IN THE CLOSET. Only linens? A mix of linens & bathroom items? Cleaning supplies? Medicine? Or even a little bit of everything? Make this decision so you can easily remove items from your linen closet that no longer belong there.

02 | DECLUTTER. Backups of blankets & towels can come in handy, but when has it become too much? Think about the worst-case scenario and your lifestyle, to determine what amount of each item you need. Someone wets the bed, do you have backup bed sheets? Your kids’ friends come over to use the pool & they don’t have towels, how many would be wise to have on hand? Only keep what you really will need.

03 | CATEGORIZE. Before you start pulling items out of the closet, think about your categories. Towels, sheets, comforters, tablecloths, medicine, toilet paper, etc. As you start to pull items out of your closet place them in like categories to make organizing & putting back that much faster. Don’t overwhelm yourself with a huge mess.

04 | ZONE IT. Top shelves are great for big bulky comforters, sleeping bags, luggage, or anything rarely used. Middle shelves are prime time real estate. Zone items that you use constantly in this space like extra towels & sheets. Bottom shelves are great for unsightly items better kept in organized bins & containers. Humidifiers & heating pads will be accessible on the bottom, but look nicer hiding inside a wicker bin.

05 | BIN & LABEL. Long gone are the days of just placing things on a shelf. We’ve figured out that not only do bins help you organize items beautifully, but they also help us maintain that organization. Whether you use bins for every inch or just a few small or odd items, you won’t regret it! Most importantly, if you can stick a label on it, everyone will know where things are and where to put things back. Don’t let your linen closet get messy all over again by choosing not to label it!

What are the best ways to organize your linen closet?

Now that you have a clearer vision of how to go about organizing your linen closet, what are the best ways to organize it all?

  • Use an over-the-door organizer. This space is rarely utilized and can add tons of extra space to your linen closet.
  • Don’t forget that vertical space. Stackable containers with lids can double the amount of organizing space.
  • Hang your ironing board on the inside of the door. There are inexpensive over-the-door hangers just for ironing boards & the iron.
  • Highlight your best linens front & center. Anything else, like stained towels, rags, or wacky patterned linens will look neater concealed in its own bin.
  • Shelf dividers are a great inexpensive option to bins that will help keep linens stacked nice & tight.
  • If you are not good at rolling towels, then don’t. Fold in all the same direction & simply stack.
  • Pick a color scheme. The trick to organized spaces is the organizing products used are the same color or coordinate perfectly.
  • Can’t properly fold a fitted sheet? Neither can we! Fold as neat as you can and fold the regular sheet neatly around it like a taco. At a glance, you wouldn’t even realize the fitted sheet is tucked inside.
